2 days till graduation

only two days until i am a college graduate.

kind of exciting.

today is our big senior stuff to do day. lecture, picture, don dinner, faculty show.

i love this picture of bob dylan. he's such a prince, and suze looks adorable. oh and it's already april 18th and we have less than 4 weeks left of school till graduation. cray-cray.

i love this cow, and i am not sick anymore. 

i am completely healthy. (well almost completely, i still have a cough thanks to my bff asthma)

however, i still can not seem to be able to get any substantial work done. i just sleep all day and all night and today it is beautiful outside and i am inside having an impossible time doing work. 

both my math and tech and my emergent curriculum conference work are due next week (the 13th and 15th) and i have hardly started either of them.

today i need to make some serious headway. 

i'm working in isaac's room with him because if i worked in my room i would be much too tempted to clean, since i haven't cleaned my room since before i got sick and it is a MESS. 

HOWEVER, i have a headache and i'm drinking tea but it's not making me feel better and i just want to lay in bed and watch gossip girl or play rummy 500. that would be the best.

in other news, we went to ohio on a private jet on friday. it was pretty awesome. AVI wooed us with their charm and excellent food services. it was great. 

i guess i should get to work now.

an aspiration

this is a photo of my grandparents 40 something years ago before they were married.

my grandma was around 19 and my grandpa was probably 24ish.

i love this picture because i love the way my grandma is laughing, i've seen her laugh like that lots and lots of times. i also love my grandpa's ears and his completely earnest and genuine smile and the way he has his arm and his hand around grandma. i like it especially because i think that they're still this happy.

spring break begins

i am on spring break. 

yesterday mom and i baked about 20 dozen hamentashen cookies for late purim. 

hamentashen are probably my favorite cookie ever, and i only ever get to eat them for purim, once a year in march. we use my great grandma lena's recipe, a family secret, the best.

so, this final spring break of my undergraduate career holds many an adventure. 

this week i am home on the island. i'm sitting around the house in leggings and spending my days baking and cooking and not really HAVING to do anything at all. except that i have to go to the dentist tomorrow. and on wednesday mom, lex and i are going to see guys and dolls on broadway. thursday (or some other day if it rains) i have plans to get pizza at L&B with nadia and i hope to do at least a little bit of shopping at the mall this week. on sunday night i'm heading back to slc for the night and on monday isaac and i start off on our adventure to nazareth, pa for sonic and then to vermont till friday. 

sounds like the besttttttt.

only downer is that all of my conference work is due less than three weeks after spring break ends so i should probably get on that. i also need to start figuring out what my completely open project is going to be for artist's books. 

BUT TONIGHT. gossip girl. one tree hill. secret life. with lex and eddie.

also, today i wanted to make jello. i found a box of strawberry banana in the cabinet but kept looking because raspberry is my favorite and i found it. so i made raspberry at first but then i decided that i should be frivolous because it's break so i took out another dish and made BOTH FLAVORS. now i am about to eat them, in the same bowl. this is me- living on the edge.

isaac has a 10 page paper due on wednesday. he's been reading forever. his paper isn't started yet either.

valentine's day

so apparently i failed at posting a valentine each day. i got busy... what can you do? it's valentine's day today and it's fine and all. i really do enjoy hearts and heart shaped candy, so i'm good. here are a few more creepy valentines to keep you company... 

lately my feet have been getting pins and needles randomly. what does that mean? i feel like it isn't a good thing...

i'm not even really sure what this means. but i like it. i'm going to try and post a  creepy valentine every day till the 14th...

i've been in the studio for several hours. i feel useless. and i'm so hungry. i want pizza hut and i have to move my car to kober before tomorrow morning. i am floundering in all that i need to do for this book project because the effing printer is broken in the studio thanks to an extremely lame first year in the beginning print class. i'm starting to feel like i should just get out of here and have dinner and then go read in the library so i can feel productive again.

weird old valentines

the other night i couldn't sleep. so i started searching (via google images) for old/vintage/antique valentine's day cards. it was an extremely successful search. but now i know that old valentines are super creepy. the one above is not at the top of the creepy scale but i like it.

today i am being a bum at home on the island. i was supposed to work at CMA tonight but joe called me and they don't need me to come in. holler. sooo, i caught up on my prime time television and now i'm watching gremlins and drinking tea with henry. mom and i are even going to have breakfast for dinner. what a day.

i am a person who loves love. it has always been true, often to a very unrealistic, sometimes naive extent. i am sure it stems from some kind of childhood obsession with The Beauty and the Beast or The Little Mermaid. but very specifically, lately things referring to the ease or difficulty in love have really been getting to me. almost, at times, making me nauseous. i save them all to a file on my computer for safe keeping. 

this one is a post secret. supremely nauseating.

today was tommy's birthday. his favorite color is "hulk green" so i made him green cookies. james liked them a lot. i like his face a lot.

a cake by sister and eddie

last night i helped lex and eddie bake a cake. i supervised, this is the two of them frosting it. they made a marshmallow filling and dyed it orange (that is the orange around the edges) i am pretty sure that it ended up being just as much frosting as cake. and i am positive it was delicious.

thanks to echo i spent the majority of the day reading this blog and that blog and absolutely falling in love with them. i also watched one of my favorite movies of all time, working girl.

jeez. i know it's been a while...

but i baked today!  these are brown butter brown sugar shorties from smitten kitchen

and here are my vegan oatmeal squares with craisins and walnuts

and finally my chocolate chip cookies, a recipe i adapted from the toll house classic long ago

it isn't that i haven't baked between december 22nd and today. I HAVE! i have just been slacking on the photo-taking and the blog-writing. it's fine though guys, i'm back. and i have this photo of my christmas jewel cookies too. i baked about 9 or so dozen other cookies but regrettably i did not photograph them. 

on friday i made soft pretzels and tomorrow feels like it'll be a bread baking day. i guess we shall see. i also need to make some ginger cookies soon, because i miss their presence in my life. tommy's birthday is on wednesday so i'll be baking him one of his favorites... either chewy oatmeal cookies or bunny tail cookies.
